Some thoughts: Prayer & Fasting

In 1 Thess 5: 17 we read: “Pray continually”. What, all the time? In every place? Even when we sleep? What it means is that God loves us to have a lifestyle of intercommunicating with Him. Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray. Prayer invades and changes the spiritual atmosphere. It captivates God’s heart. It makes miracles come to pass. Prayer is a matter of belief and miracles. Listen to these Scriptures: Matt 21: 22 “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”. And John 14: 14 “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it”.

Combined with prayer, fasting is a most powerful arsenal in the hand of a disciple of Jesus. When confronted with demons, Jesus responded to His disciples: “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matt 17:21). When we go without things like food, entertainment or other pleasures for a while, we use this time of natural hunger, to hunger after Jesus and His Kingdom. We hunger to see His Kingdom come, the lost saved, miracles come about and revival to sweep a nation.

Both Prayer and fasting make us dependent upon Jesus for all things.

Keeping it practical

Join us @ Lighthouse this week for 3 days of prayer and fasting.
Participate in our 3 nights of prayer at church, (Tuesday to Thursday 7:30-8:30pm) as we corporately seek Jesus’ face and hand for 2015.
Ask Holy Spirit to: Teach Me How To Pray.
Use the ‘pain’ of the fast to pray for those who are lost without an eternity with Jesus.
Things you can pray for:
– Growth in every department at Lighthouse;
– Supernatural miracles;
– Know Jesus and Make Him Known in your life, your community, your connections and family as well as Crows Nest;
– Pray for 3 unsaved friends until they come to know His love eternal;
– Faith seeds to see Lighthouse grow and accomplish the mission.
