Some thoughts: The Anointing

“Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness”. Luke 4:1About 24 years ago, something extraordinary happened to me. Up until then I had always loved Jesus, served, given financially, etc, but something was missing. I had read by then, of so many accounts of men and women throughout Scripture and history that, “FULL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ANOINTING,” carried out amazing exploits. So 24 years ago, on an afternoon walk on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I was filled with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit and instantly I got the gift of tongues. My life changed forever. What happened? God’s anointing was poured out in power into my life.

The anointing is the power to do what God has called you to do. The anointing is empowerment for service. The anointing is being in the same mind as the Spirit, being in tune with the Spirit, having the discernment of the Spirit and being used by the Spirit.

Zechariah 4:6 “‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty”.

Without the anointing, you are powerless for the work of God. We can talk about leadership skills and we can teach courses, and all that is good, but the greatest leader cannot lead properly without the anointing. Jesus lived a supernatural life and carried out amazing signs and wonders as a man. Why? He was full of the Holy Spirit.
Are you “full of the Holy Spirit?” Christianity without the fullness of Holy Spirit is impotent and insipid. Jesus wants you to be filled to overflowing with His Spirit today. Why?

Making it Relevant

  1. The anointing breaks the heavy yoke of past and present sin. The Lord wants you to live in total freedom. (Read Luke 4)
  2. The anointing empowers you for living. (Read John 10:10) Jesus wants to give you abundant life.
  3. The anointing empowers for ministry. (Read Acts 6/7) The life of Stephen is a model for us to live by.
  4. The anointing takes the timid, the fearful, the dejected, the hopeless, and breathes supernatural power and transformation. (Read 2 Tim 1:7)
  5. The anointing brings an “EASE” to what Jesus has called us into. (Read Matt11:39 – Amplified version)
  6. The anointing heals us from the past and releases us into a glorious future. (Read Isaiah 61)
  7. The anointing makes us more and more, each day, like Jesus (Read 2 Corinthians 3:17-18)

I am so very excited to see the people of Lighthouse Church passionately go after the Person and anointing of the precious Holy Spirit at this time. May you be filled to overflowing this week.
