Keeping It Real – Love and Unity

Keeping It Real – Love and Unity

I have been in ministry for the last 25 years. My passionate love for Jesus and the local Church has never diminished. Does the church frustrate me and, at times, do I feel discouraged? Absolutely yes. This has more to do with my attitude, rather than circumstances. But I unequivocally love the church, the bride of Jesus Christ.

One thing I am becoming increasingly intolerant of is people criticising other Christian brothers and sisters or other Christian Churches. The Church is the bride of Jesus Christ and no one, I repeat no one, has any conjugal rites to her (the church). The Church is the beloved of Jesus. He gave His life for her. He is coming back for her. We are to love her (love one another as Christ loves us), protect her, build her, be involved, bring our best, our talents, our finances, our gifts. The Church at its best is the answer to a broken and lost world. I love the Church. But Jesus loves her so much more.

The key to the book of Acts and the outpouring of Holy Spirit? Love and Unity. The key to revival? Love and Unity. Remember, the Word states that a house divided against itself cannot prosper. The answer? One in diversity: John 17:20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent Me.”

Keeping It relevant

1. Read and make personal notes on John 17 and reflect in particular on verse 21.
2. Read Proverbs 6:16-19: Reflect and make notes on verse 19.
3. Read Revelation 19.
4. In Prayer:
– Ask the Holy Spirit to give you more Passion for the local Church
– Every week make a list of things you can pray for the Lighthouse Church and other churches known to you
– Ask Holy Spirit how best to bring your BEST, Self, Talents, Worship, Finances, Dreams, to build His Church.
